Mumu

Branding, Packaging, Photography, UI/UX

Our goal with Mumu was to channel the electrifying energy of Asian metropolises into a brand rooted in both cultural memory and imagined futures. We set out to build a visual language influenced by modern Asian aesthetics, drawing inspiration from cinematic worlds like Wong Kar-wai’s 2046 and Blade Runner 2049.

The color palette was shaped by my personal experiences in cities like Taipei, Tokyo, and Shanghai—where neon lights and plastic signage envelop urban surfaces with both vibrancy and atmosphere. These visual cues became a foundational part of the brand’s sensibility.

As a Taiwanese American food brand, Mumu needed a logo that captured cultural hybridity with clarity and forward-looking style. I abstracted and essentialized traditional Chinese character strokes to create a mark that feels both concise and futuristic—a visual bridge between heritage and innovation.

The Mumu website interface blends bold minimalism with rich cultural references. Set against a saturated ultramarine background, the layout emphasizes clarity and contrast—pairing elegant serif typography in gold with high-resolution food imagery.

The product page is structured for ease: pricing, purchase options, and product details are neatly compartmentalized to reduce friction. Interactive elements like collapsible sections (for ingredients and nutrition) and quantity selectors keep the experience streamlined.

The UI evokes a modern, futuristic take on traditional Taiwanese visual culture—luxurious yet approachable, with a cinematic edge.
